Hi my name is Helen, I'm 23 and have FA. I was diagnosed when I was 14.

After leaving school I successfully completed 3 years beauty therapy and nail technician training.

After an excessive amount of lessons I finally passed my driving test and drive an adapted motability car.

For the last 2 and a half years I have voulunteered as a teaching assistant at a local primary school every morning, which gets me up and out. 2 years ago I discovered watercolour painting and attend a weekly class. A lady from the class invited me to hydra therapy sessions which I now attend once a week. I go to the gym twice a week with my sister. I organise an ataxia support group in my area, we meet up every 6-8 weeks.

Even though some days it's a challenge for me it's worth it to be apart of so many different social groups. I feel very fortunate to have such a supportive network of family and friends to enable me to lead a positive and active life.
